Job Description

The water treatment utility in Roodepoort needs an electrical engineer for projects that go from design to commissioning. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

This post is Roodepoort-based, with most of your time spent at a water treatment utility.

The work, day to day

Draw up tender specifications and bills of quantities for electrical works
Design solar PV and battery systems and handle grid connection to NRS 097
Size cables, transformers and protection using design software
Plan maintenance for switchgear, transformers and motor control centres
Keep single line diagrams and as-built drawings up to date
Design LV and MV reticulation to SANS 10142-1 and SANS 10142-2

You'll need

Code 08 licence and willingness to travel to sites
Strong understanding of SANS 10142 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
ECSA registration as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Candidate
Able to write clear technical reports and specifications
At least 3 years of electrical engineering work after graduating
Experience with at least one power system or lighting design package
