Job Description

You'll design, protect and maintain electrical systems for the solar and battery project developer in Pretoria West. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

You'll be based at a solar and battery project developer in Pretoria West. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

What your day looks like

Inspect installations and sign off compliance on completion
Guide technicians and contractors on site during commissioning
Plan maintenance for switchgear, transformers and motor control centres
Size cables, transformers and protection using design software
Review PLC and SCADA logic for process control and alarms
Investigate power quality problems with a power analyser

Must-haves

Experience with at least one power system or lighting design package
Able to write clear technical reports and specifications
ECSA registration as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Candidate
At least 3 years of electrical engineering work after graduating
BEng or BSc Eng in Electrical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist posts

Extra points for

PLC programming certification
Government Certificate of Competency (Electrical, Factories or Mines)
Renewable energy project experience above 1 MW
