Electrical Engineer (Power Distribution)

From MV switchgear to PLCs, this water treatment utility in Sasolburg needs a sharp electrical engineer. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

Location: Sasolburg, Free State. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Design solar PV and battery systems and handle grid connection to NRS 097
• Guide technicians and contractors on site during commissioning
• Draw up tender specifications and bills of quantities for electrical works
• Keep single line diagrams and as-built drawings up to date
• Size cables, transformers and protection using design software
• Plan maintenance for switchgear, transformers and motor control centres
• Investigate power quality problems with a power analyser

• ECSA registration as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Candidate
• BEng or BSc Eng in Electrical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist posts
• Experience with at least one power system or lighting design package
• Able to write clear technical reports and specifications

• Protection or HV operating authorisation
• Government Certificate of Competency (Electrical, Factories or Mines)

• Vehicle allowance for site work
