Structural Engineer (Buildings)

You'll design and supervise infrastructure people use every day, with the bulk water utility in Sasolburg. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

You'll be based at a bulk water utility in Sasolburg. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Prepare tender documents under GCC 2015 or NEC contracts
• Review geotechnical reports and choose suitable foundations
• Write design reports and handover documents
• Design water pipelines, sewers and stormwater systems with hydraulic software
• Apply for municipal wayleaves and building plan approvals
• Chair site meetings and handle contractor queries
• Check drawings from technicians and sign them for issue

• At least 3 years in design or construction supervision
• Code 08 licence and willingness to spend time on site
• BEng, BSc Eng or BTech in Civil Engineering
• Able to explain technical issues to clients and contractors
• Registered with ECSA as a professional or candidate
• Good grasp of South African design codes for your field

• Registration with SAICE and active CPD
