Electrical Engineering Technologist (Substations)

You'll design, protect and maintain electrical systems for the water treatment utility in Kempton Park. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

You'll be based at a water treatment utility in Kempton Park. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Keep single line diagrams and as-built drawings up to date
• Guide technicians and contractors on site during commissioning
• Size cables, transformers and protection using design software
• Plan maintenance for switchgear, transformers and motor control centres
• Investigate power quality problems with a power analyser
• Design LV and MV reticulation to SANS 10142-1 and SANS 10142-2

• Experience with at least one power system or lighting design package
• Strong understanding of SANS 10142 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
• Able to write clear technical reports and specifications
• At least 3 years of electrical engineering work after graduating
• ECSA registration as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Candidate
• Code 08 licence and willingness to travel to sites

• Government Certificate of Competency (Electrical, Factories or Mines)
• Renewable energy project experience above 1 MW

• Vehicle allowance for site work
