Electrician's Assistant (House Wiring)

Every wall and slab on this shopping centre renovation in Phalaborwa needs labourers, and the crew needs one more. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

You'll report in Phalaborwa. Relocation is not covered for this one. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Erect and strip shutters and simple scaffolding under supervision
• Dig trenches and foundations to the depth the foreman marks
• Set up barriers, cones and signs around open trenches
• Sign the daily safety talk register before work starts
• Clean tools, mixers and wheelbarrows at the end of each day
• Compact soil and layer bedding sand with a plate compactor
• Pass tools and materials to the plumber or electrician as needed

• Physically strong and fit for outdoor work in all weather
• Prepared to travel between sites in the area
• You take safety rules seriously and wear full PPE
• Able to follow instructions from a foreman or artisan
• Grade 8 or higher
• Willing to start early, often at 06:30

• Previous site work you can show with a reference
• Some experience with a jackhammer, grinder or plate compactor
• Registered on your ward or municipal job-seeker database

• Boots, hard hat and overalls issued on site
• Overtime on weekend pours and deadline days
• Paid weekly or fortnightly
• Learn from artisans with a chance to move up to assistant
