Electrician's Assistant (House Wiring) – Entry Level

Strong, willing hands are wanted on a townhouse construction site in Randburg. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

The work is in Randburg, Gauteng, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day.

• Mix concrete and mortar by hand or with a small mixer
• Sign the daily safety talk register before work starts
• Dig trenches and foundations to the depth the foreman marks
• Carry bricks, blocks and cement bags to where the bricklayers work
• Set up barriers, cones and signs around open trenches
• Erect and strip shutters and simple scaffolding under supervision
• Clean tools, mixers and wheelbarrows at the end of each day

• Prepared to travel between sites in the area
• A clean record is preferred for some government sites
• Able to follow instructions from a foreman or artisan
• Grade 8 or higher
• Willing to start early, often at 06:30

• Living near the site (many projects hire local labour)
• Registered on your ward or municipal job-seeker database

• Learn from artisans with a chance to move up to assistant
• Paid weekly or fortnightly
• Boots, hard hat and overalls issued on site

• List past sites by name and what you did there, like "mixed concrete, laid kerbs". It proves you have done real site work.
