Employee Relations Advisor (Unionised Site) – Permanent

You'll handle the full HR cycle for a private hospital in Paarl, from hiring to hearings. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

This post is Paarl-based, with most of your time spent at a private hospital. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Represent the company at CCMA conciliations and arbitrations.
• Track leave, absenteeism and sick notes and act on patterns.
• Chair or initiate disciplinary hearings and write up the outcome.
• Handle grievances with notes, dates and a clear written outcome.
• Consult with shop stewards and attend union meetings.

• A degree or diploma in HR management, labour relations or industrial psychology
• Valid driver's licence for multi-site roles
• CCMA experience, at least at conciliation
• Solid working knowledge of the LRA, BCEA and EEA
• Confident facilitating hard conversations with managers and unions
• At least 3 years as an HR officer or generalist

• Experience on a unionised site or in a bargaining council sector
• SABPP registration
• Skills development facilitator (SDF) training

• Company car or travel allowance for site visits
• CPD and SABPP fees paid
• Medical aid and provident fund contributions

• Prepare for a case-study question on dismissing an employee fairly, and walk through procedure and substance.
• Quantify your IR work: how many hearings, CCMA cases and outcomes; that is what HR managers check first.
