Enrolled Nurse (Surgical Ward)

Your care keeps residents at a hospice in-patient unit in Kathu safe, clean and comfortable through the day. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

You'll report in Kathu. Relocation is not covered for this one. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Help patients bath, dress, eat and use the toilet with dignity
• Do simple wound dressings and report anything that looks infected
• Help patients walk, transfer from bed to chair and do their exercises
• Take and chart temperature, pulse, blood pressure and blood glucose
• Keep families updated on routine matters and pass clinical questions to the sister
• Follow infection control rules, including hand hygiene and safe sharps disposal
• Turn bed-bound patients on schedule and check pressure areas for early sores

• Physically strong enough to lift and move patients safely
• First aid Level 1 or BLS certificate
• Patient and gentle with elderly, frail or confused people
• Accredited home-based care or ancillary health care certificate for caregiver posts

• Dementia care or palliative care short course
• Code B or Code 8 driver's licence for home visits

• Transport home after late shifts at some facilities
• Uniform supplied
• Paid training in dementia and end-of-life care
• Overtime paid at time and a half

• Name the type of patients you've cared for, such as stroke patients or dementia residents, in your first CV line.
