Enrolled Nurse (Surgical Ward)

You'll give hands-on nursing care at a physical rehabilitation hospital in Rustenburg, working alongside registered nurses. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

You'll be based at a physical rehabilitation hospital in Rustenburg. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Hand out oral medication under the supervision of a registered nurse
• Take and chart temperature, pulse, blood pressure and blood glucose
• Help patients walk, transfer from bed to chair and do their exercises
• Do simple wound dressings and report anything that looks infected
• Follow infection control rules, including hand hygiene and safe sharps disposal

• Patient and gentle with elderly, frail or confused people
• Matric or NQF Level 4 equivalent
• Physically strong enough to lift and move patients safely
• SANC enrolment as an Enrolled Nurse or Enrolled Nursing Auxiliary for nursing posts
• Accredited home-based care or ancillary health care certificate for caregiver posts

• Dementia care or palliative care short course
• Experience in a frail care or hospice setting

• Transport home after late shifts at some facilities
• Meals provided on shift at many frail care centres
• Paid training in dementia and end-of-life care

• If you're a caregiver, attach the certificate from the training provider, not just a letter saying you attended.
• Recruiters phone references for care jobs, so warn your references and check their numbers still work.
