Enrolled Nursing Auxiliary (Frail Care)

You'll give hands-on nursing care at a home-based care agency in Cape Town CBD, working alongside registered nurses. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

Home base is a home-based care agency on the Cape Town CBD side of Western Cape. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Take and chart temperature, pulse, blood pressure and blood glucose
• Keep the fluid and food intake charts accurate for every patient
• Help patients bath, dress, eat and use the toilet with dignity
• Keep families updated on routine matters and pass clinical questions to the sister
• Do simple wound dressings and report anything that looks infected

• At least 1 year of hands-on patient care
• Patient and gentle with elderly, frail or confused people
• First aid Level 1 or BLS certificate
• Physically strong enough to lift and move patients safely

• Code B or Code 8 driver's licence for home visits
• Dementia care or palliative care short course

• Paid training in dementia and end-of-life care
• Transport home after late shifts at some facilities
• Overtime paid at time and a half

• If you're a caregiver, attach the certificate from the training provider, not just a letter saying you attended.
• Name the type of patients you've cared for, such as stroke patients or dementia residents, in your first CV line.
