Excavator Operator (Open Cast Mine) – Permanent

Operators at this contract mining company near Upington keep the ore moving from face to crusher. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

Location: Upington, Northern Cape. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Push and level material on dumps and stockpiles with the dozer
• Drill blast holes to the plan depth and angle marked by the survey team
• Complete the pre-use inspection checklist for your trackless mobile machine
• Haul ore and waste on the haul road loop to the crusher or dump
• Load, haul and tip with the LHD from draw points to the ore pass
• Log loads, cycle times and machine hours on the onboard system or sheet

• Grade 10 at minimum, with Grade 12 strongly preferred
• Code 10 or Code 14 driver's licence
• Able to work 12-hour shifts on a rotating day and night roster
• Valid operator certificate for the specific machine, from an MQA-accredited provider
• Certificate of fitness from a mine medical practitioner

• Fatigue management or defensive driving training
• Certificates on two or more machine types
• Experience with ultra-class haul trucks
