Job Description

A financial services company legal department in East London needs an attorney who can draft, advise and stand up in court. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

The work is in East London, Eastern Cape, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

The work, day to day

Draft and review contracts, shareholder agreements and legal opinions
Review company processes for POPIA and privacy compliance
Keep trust account instructions and fee notes accurate
Supervise and train candidate attorneys and paralegals
Manage a portfolio of litigation or advisory matters on your own
Advise clients on risk, settlement and next steps in plain language

What you need

At least 2 years of post-admission experience in the relevant field
Right of appearance in the High Court for litigation posts
Strong drafting and legal research
Sound judgement under deadline pressure
