Farm General Worker (Vegetable Fields) – Entry Level

You'll pick, prune and look after crops on a wine farm near Kimberley through the season. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

Home base is a wine farm on the Kimberley side of Northern Cape.

• Plant seedlings in rows at the spacing shown
• Weed beds by hand or with a hoe
• Pick fruit or vegetables at the right ripeness and size, gently
• Move irrigation pipes and check drippers for blockages
• Fill crates or bins and carry them to the collection point

• Available for the full harvest season
• Follows farm hygiene and safety rules
• Valid ID or work permit
• Careful with fruit, since bruised fruit is rejected

• Pruning experience on vines or fruit trees
• Previous harvest or picking experience
• Living on or near the farm

• Piece-rate bonus on top of daily wage
• Farm transport from nearby towns
• Chance of a permanent post after good seasons

• If you have picked before, say which crop and how many seasons. Farms rehire experienced pickers first.
• Have your bank details ready. Most farms pay into a bank account and will not start you without it.
