Farm General Worker (Vegetable Fields) – Experienced

Harvest time on a deciduous fruit orchard near Mokopane means early mornings, full crates and paid overtime. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

This post is in Mokopane (Limpopo). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Plant seedlings in rows at the spacing shown
• Pick fruit or vegetables at the right ripeness and size, gently
• Tie up tomato and pepper plants in tunnels
• Fill crates or bins and carry them to the collection point
• Prune and thin fruit trees and vines to the farm's method
• Weed beds by hand or with a hoe
• Clean and store picking bags, ladders and secateurs

• Able to work outdoors in heat, cold and rain
• Available for the full harvest season
• Willing to start at sunrise
• Physically fit for bending, lifting and climbing ladders

• Seasonal accommodation on some farms
• Farm transport from nearby towns
• Piece-rate bonus on top of daily wage

• Have your bank details ready. Most farms pay into a bank account and will not start you without it.
• Farms hire before the season starts, so apply four to six weeks early. Late arrivals often find the teams already full.
