Fitter and Turner (Engineering Workshop)

Planned maintenance and breakdown work on shift at the beverage bottling plant in Bloemfontein. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

You'll be based at a beverage bottling plant in Bloemfontein. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Program and run CNC machines from engineering drawings
• Machine shafts, bushes and keyways on a lathe and milling machine
• Help with electrical fault-finding on motors and sensors as a millwright
• Inspect and adjust conveyors, chains and sprockets
• Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems on production lines

• At least 2 years as a qualified artisan in a factory or workshop
• You read engineering drawings and measure with micrometers and verniers
• Basic understanding of the General Machinery Regulations
• Trade test as Fitter and Turner, Fitter, Millwright or Toolmaker
• N2 or N3 engineering subjects
• Own basic hand tools, or willing to build up a set

• Forklift licence for moving heavy parts
• CNC programming experience

• Chance to study further toward a technician diploma
• Shift and standby allowances
• Paid overtime on shutdowns
• Tool allowance

• If you can machine parts as well as fit them, say so clearly. Many factories want both skills in one person.
• Write your trade and trade test year first, then the machines you know, like "Filling lines, pumps, gearboxes".
