Fitter and Turner (Engineering Workshop) – Immediate Start

Planned maintenance and breakdown work on shift at the plastics injection moulding factory in Kathu. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

This post is Kathu-based, with most of your time spent at a plastics injection moulding factory. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Record work and spares used on the job card or CMMS
• Build and repair press tools, jigs and moulds
• Replace bearings, seals and couplings on pumps, gearboxes and motors
• Follow the lockout procedure before any work on machinery
• Help with electrical fault-finding on motors and sensors as a millwright
• Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems on production lines
• Program and run CNC machines from engineering drawings

• Trade test as Fitter and Turner, Fitter, Millwright or Toolmaker
• N2 or N3 engineering subjects
• You read engineering drawings and measure with micrometers and verniers
• Willing to work shifts, standby and weekend shutdowns
• Basic understanding of the General Machinery Regulations

• Millwright trade test, since it covers both mechanical and electrical
• Food safety awareness for food and drink plants

• Tool allowance
• Shift and standby allowances
• Paid overtime on shutdowns

• Expect a practical test. Measure twice and work cleanly, because the assessor watches your habits as much as the result.
• Write your trade and trade test year first, then the machines you know, like "Filling lines, pumps, gearboxes".
