Job Description

Month-end, year-end and audit prep all run through you at an agricultural co-operative in Benoni. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

Location: Benoni, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first.

The work, day to day

Draft annual financial statements under IFRS or IFRS for SMEs
Calculate provisional tax and check the VAT201 before submission
Track stock costing, standard costs and production variances
Prepare the audit file and answer auditor queries
Build budgets and rolling forecasts with department heads
Review creditors, debtors and payroll journals from the clerks
Improve controls, such as segregation of duties on supplier changes

You'll need

You meet month-end deadlines without being chased
At least 3 years of post-qualification accounting experience
Strong Excel skills, including large data sets and lookups
Understanding of South African income tax and VAT
Experience on an ERP such as Sage X3, Sage 300, Syspro or SAP Business One

Extra points for

Completed articles at an audit firm
Consolidation experience across several companies
CA(SA) with SAICA, or AGA(SA) or Professional Accountant (SA) with SAIPA
