Fleet Tracking Controller (Night Shift) – Fixed-Term

Behind every truck on the road is a controller; at a courier operations centre in Gqeberha, that could be you. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

You'll report in Gqeberha. Relocation is not covered for this one. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Plan daily loads to use full truck capacity
• Assign trucks and drivers to routes and track them on telematics
• Capture trip sheets, fuel and toll costs on the system
• Check driver hours so nobody drives too long without rest
• Phone drivers when trucks stop too long or go off-route
• Compile daily reports on trips completed and late deliveries
• Keep a register of PrDP and licence expiry dates for all drivers

• Knowledge of South African road freight regulations
• Good with Excel and email
• Matric
• Calm and decisive when things go wrong

• Knowledge of cross-border documentation
• Experience on a vehicle telematics platform
• Transport management system (TMS) experience

• Growth to transport manager
• Training on the fleet and tracking systems
• Cellphone allowance for standby shifts

• If you drove trucks before, say so. Controllers who know the road earn quick respect from drivers.
• Give the fleet size and route types you handled, for example "40 trucks, long-haul and local". Hiring managers want scale.
