Fleet Tracking Controller (Night Shift)

Trucks, drivers, loads and deadlines all meet on your screen at a courier operations centre in Somerset West. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

Home base is a courier operations centre on the Somerset West side of Western Cape. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Arrange breakdown recovery and replacement vehicles
• Keep a register of PrDP and licence expiry dates for all drivers
• Phone drivers when trucks stop too long or go off-route
• Assign trucks and drivers to routes and track them on telematics
• Check driver hours so nobody drives too long without rest
• Compile daily reports on trips completed and late deliveries
• Book vehicle services, licence renewals and roadworthy tests

• Good with Excel and email
• Matric
• Able to work shifts in a 24-hour control office
• Knowledge of South African road freight regulations
• Calm and decisive when things go wrong

• Transport management system (TMS) experience
• Knowledge of cross-border documentation

• Office-based work with a steady roster
• Cellphone allowance for standby shifts
• Training on the fleet and tracking systems

• If you drove trucks before, say so. Controllers who know the road earn quick respect from drivers.
• Give the fleet size and route types you handled, for example "40 trucks, long-haul and local". Hiring managers want scale.
