Fleet Tracking Controller (Night Shift)

Trucks, drivers, loads and deadlines all meet on your screen at a road freight company in Stellenbosch. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

This post is Stellenbosch-based, with most of your time spent at a road freight company. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Plan daily loads to use full truck capacity
• Compile daily reports on trips completed and late deliveries
• Assign trucks and drivers to routes and track them on telematics
• Keep a register of PrDP and licence expiry dates for all drivers
• Phone drivers when trucks stop too long or go off-route

• Knowledge of South African road freight regulations
• Good with Excel and email
• Matric
• Calm and decisive when things go wrong
• Clear on the phone with drivers and customers
• Able to work shifts in a 24-hour control office

• Previous truck driving experience
• Experience on a vehicle telematics platform

• Growth to transport manager
• Cellphone allowance for standby shifts
• Training on the fleet and tracking systems

• Give the fleet size and route types you handled, for example "40 trucks, long-haul and local". Hiring managers want scale.
• If you drove trucks before, say so. Controllers who know the road earn quick respect from drivers.
