Job Description

Winter fire season is near, and a forestry contractor near eMalahleni needs crews ready. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

You'll report in eMalahleni. Relocation is not covered for this one.

What you'll actually do

Sharpen and service chainsaws daily
Prune lower branches with pruning saws and ladders
Feed logs into sawmill machines and stack planks
Fell, debranch and cross-cut trees with a chainsaw
Plant seedlings in prepared pits at the right spacing
Stack logs by length for loading onto trucks

What you need

Physically strong and fit for steep slopes
Able to work in a crew and follow the crew leader
Follows safety rules strictly around machines and fires
Passes the medical check for fire crews
Available for early starts and fire-season standby
