Job Description

Hard, outdoor work on a fire protection association near eMalahleni, with training on chainsaws and fire safety. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

You'll be based at a fire protection association in eMalahleni. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

The work, day to day

Stack logs by length for loading onto trucks
Wear chainsaw chaps, helmets and ear protection at all times
Plant seedlings in prepared pits at the right spacing
Prune lower branches with pruning saws and ladders
Fell, debranch and cross-cut trees with a chainsaw
Feed logs into sawmill machines and stack planks
Sharpen and service chainsaws daily

What you need

Follows safety rules strictly around machines and fires
Available for early starts and fire-season standby
Able to work in a crew and follow the crew leader
Valid ID
