Frail Care Assistant (Retirement Village)

You'll give hands-on nursing care at a physical rehabilitation hospital in Johannesburg CBD, working alongside registered nurses. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

Home base is a physical rehabilitation hospital on the Johannesburg CBD side of Gauteng.

• Take and chart temperature, pulse, blood pressure and blood glucose
• Keep the fluid and food intake charts accurate for every patient
• Hand out oral medication under the supervision of a registered nurse
• Keep families updated on routine matters and pass clinical questions to the sister
• Do simple wound dressings and report anything that looks infected

• At least 1 year of hands-on patient care
• First aid Level 1 or BLS certificate
• Able to work shifts, including nights and weekends
• Matric or NQF Level 4 equivalent

• Meals provided on shift at many frail care centres
• Overtime paid at time and a half
• Transport home after late shifts at some facilities
• Paid training in dementia and end-of-life care

• Name the type of patients you've cared for, such as stroke patients or dementia residents, in your first CV line.
