You'll keep a day surgery clinic in Springs safe for patients by cleaning the way infection control demands. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

You'll be based at a day surgery clinic in Springs. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Do terminal cleans of isolation rooms after a patient is discharged
• Clean patient rooms using colour-coded cloths and mops for each area
• Clean theatres between operations to the hospital's turnaround times
• Move patients' belongings and equipment when rooms change
• Disinfect bed rails, call bells and bedside lockers
• Mop spills of blood or fluids using the spill kit
• Handle and bag medical waste in the right coloured bins

• Willing to follow strict infection control steps every time
• Up to date with vaccinations the hospital requires, such as hepatitis B
• Able to work shifts including weekends and night duty
• Calm under pressure in busy wards
• Not squeamish about blood, vomit or medical waste
• Matric or Grade 11

• Knowledge of healthcare waste handling rules
• Experience as a porter or general assistant in healthcare
• Previous hospital or clinic cleaning experience
