Packing season at a citrus packhouse near Polokwane means lots of shifts and lots of work. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

You'll be based at a citrus packhouse in Polokwane. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Stick labels and batch codes on each carton
• Stack empty cartons and punnets ready for the next run
• Help clean the line and machines at the end of the day
• Check fruit samples and record quality results on the QC sheet
• Sort fruit by size, colour and blemish on the packing line

• Basic counting and reading for labels
• Able to stand at a line for long shifts
• Follows hygiene rules at all times
• Valid ID or permit

• Matric for QC posts
• Forklift licence for palletising roles

• Protective clothing supplied
• Rehire for next season if you perform well
• Transport from nearby towns

• Mention the fruit you have packed before and how many seasons. Packhouses rehire the fast, careful packers.
• Apply before the season starts, often a month before first harvest. Recruiting days fill up fast.
