Job Description

Timber keeps rural towns working, and a fire protection association near Mokopane is hiring crews. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

Home base is a fire protection association on the Mokopane side of Limpopo.

What you'll actually do

Sharpen and service chainsaws daily
Fell, debranch and cross-cut trees with a chainsaw
Prune lower branches with pruning saws and ladders
Stack logs by length for loading onto trucks
Fight veld fires with beaters and water packs under a crew leader
Plant seedlings in prepared pits at the right spacing
Clear and maintain firebreaks during the dry season

Must-haves

Follows safety rules strictly around machines and fires
Valid ID
Available for early starts and fire-season standby
Able to work in a crew and follow the crew leader
Passes the medical check for fire crews
