Job Description

Write clean code, review pull requests and fix what breaks at a software development house in Pretoria East. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

This post is Pretoria East-based, with most of your time spent at a software development house. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

The work, day to day

Pick up tickets from the sprint board and estimate the work
Handle personal data safely, with POPIA rules in mind
Write, test and refactor code in your team's main language
Investigate production bugs using logs and monitoring dashboards
Deploy through a CI/CD pipeline on Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or GitLab
Document how your features work for support and new developers
Join daily stand-ups and sprint planning

You'll need

Stable internet and a quiet workspace for remote days
Commercial experience in at least one of PHP, C#, Java, Python or JavaScript
Solid Git habits: branches, pull requests and meaningful commit messages
You can explain technical choices to non-technical people
Good SQL and understanding of relational databases
A computer science or IT qualification, or a portfolio that proves you can build

Nice if you have

Knowledge of secure coding and the OWASP Top 10
Public GitHub portfolio or published app
Docker and Kubernetes experience
