Gate Security Officer (Residential Estate)

You'll control who comes in and out of a gated residential estate in Montague Gardens, and log every visitor properly. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

You'll be based at a gated residential estate in Montague Gardens. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Write every incident and shift change in the occurrence book (OB)
• Hand out and collect contractor access cards
• Check visitors' IDs and capture them on the visitor app or in the gate register
• Direct traffic and parking during school drop-off or big events
• Test the panic button and radio when you come on duty
• Watch for loitering, broken fencing and open doors during night patrols
• Keep the guardhouse clean and the OB up to date for the relieving officer

• Physically fit for foot patrols
• Grade 10 minimum; matric preferred
• Speaks and writes basic English
• Clean criminal record
• Clear, neat handwriting for the OB and registers

• A Code 8 licence for vehicle patrols
• Experience on estate access apps or biometric readers
• Previous experience at a similar site type

• Paid night-shift allowance under the security sector rules
• Provident fund contributions
• Uniform, boots and winter jacket issued
• Stable long-term site contracts

• List the types of sites you have guarded, like estate, mall or factory. Security companies place officers by site experience.
• Make sure your PSIRA fees are paid. A lapsed registration gets your CV thrown out, even if you have years of experience.
