Gate Security Officer (Residential Estate)

You'll control who comes in and out of a gated residential estate in Pietermaritzburg, and log every visitor properly. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

You'll be based at a gated residential estate in Pietermaritzburg. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Check visitors' IDs and capture them on the visitor app or in the gate register
• Call the armed response or SAPS number from the call list when needed
• Direct traffic and parking during school drop-off or big events
• Patrol the perimeter on a set route and scan checkpoint tags
• Search vehicles and bags leaving the site when company policy requires it
• Hand out and collect contractor access cards
• Open and close boom gates for residents, deliveries and contractors

• Grade 10 minimum; matric preferred
• PSIRA registration at Grade C or higher, paid up to date
• Speaks and writes basic English
• Alert, polite and firm with the public
• Able to work 12-hour day and night shifts, including weekends

• Chance to be upgraded to Grade B with training
• Stable long-term site contracts
• Provident fund contributions

• List the types of sites you have guarded, like estate, mall or factory. Security companies place officers by site experience.
