Grader Operator (Road Construction)

The quarry and aggregate supplier in Bellville needs an operator who looks after the machine as well as the job. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

The work is in Bellville, Western Cape, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Backfill and compact around pipes in layers
• Watch for underground services and follow the banksman's signals
• Grease the machine daily and report leaks or damage straight away
• Do the pre-start checklist on your machine before the first bucket
• Dig trenches for pipes and cables to the depth and grade set by the surveyor
• Cut and trim road layers to level with the grader
• Compact layers with the roller until density tests pass

• Valid Code 10 licence for moving machines on public roads
• Good depth perception and no history of machine accidents
• Operator certificate for the machine class, from an accredited training provider
• Can read grade pegs and understand cut and fill
• At least 2 years operating the machine on construction sites
• Medical certificate of fitness for operating mobile plant

• PrDP for tipper or lowbed work
• Certificates on more than one machine type
• GPS machine control experience on excavators or graders

• Refresher training on new machines
• Camp accommodation or a living-out allowance on remote sites
• Travel home paid at the end of each site shift cycle
