Grape Harvest Worker (Wine Farm)

Outdoor work with your hands on a wine farm near Kuruman; no experience needed for most posts. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

Home base is a wine farm on the Kuruman side of Northern Cape.

• Move irrigation pipes and check drippers for blockages
• Follow the re-entry times after spraying, as the signs show
• Plant seedlings in rows at the spacing shown
• Wash hands and use the field toilets for food safety
• Pick fruit or vegetables at the right ripeness and size, gently

• Careful with fruit, since bruised fruit is rejected
• Follows farm hygiene and safety rules
• Available for the full harvest season
• Physically fit for bending, lifting and climbing ladders
• Valid ID or work permit

• Pruning experience on vines or fruit trees
• Living on or near the farm

• Seasonal accommodation on some farms
• Farm transport from nearby towns
• Piece-rate bonus on top of daily wage

• Have your bank details ready. Most farms pay into a bank account and will not start you without it.
• Farms hire before the season starts, so apply four to six weeks early. Late arrivals often find the teams already full.
