Grape Harvest Worker (Wine Farm) – Immediate Start

Crops do not wait, and a citrus farm near Welkom needs extra hands this season. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

Location: Welkom, Free State. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Weed beds by hand or with a hoe
• Follow the re-entry times after spraying, as the signs show
• Tie up tomato and pepper plants in tunnels
• Wash hands and use the field toilets for food safety
• Clean and store picking bags, ladders and secateurs
• Keep your picking card or tag count for daily pay
• Plant seedlings in rows at the spacing shown

• Physically fit for bending, lifting and climbing ladders
• Able to work outdoors in heat, cold and rain
• Careful with fruit, since bruised fruit is rejected
• Available for the full harvest season
• Willing to start at sunrise

• Tractor or quad bike experience
• Previous harvest or picking experience
• Pruning experience on vines or fruit trees

• Seasonal accommodation on some farms
• Chance of a permanent post after good seasons
• Farm transport from nearby towns
• Piece-rate bonus on top of daily wage

• If you have picked before, say which crop and how many seasons. Farms rehire experienced pickers first.
• Have your bank details ready. Most farms pay into a bank account and will not start you without it.
