Guesthouse Housekeeper

Check-out to check-in in under an hour, room after room, at a beachfront holiday resort in George. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

This post is in George (Western Cape). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Keep your trolley stocked and neat before each shift
• Do evening turndowns, closing curtains and setting out slippers
• Work through a room list, marking rooms clean on the housekeeping board
• Strip and make beds to the hotel's standard, hospital corners included
• Clean bathrooms, replace towels and restock guest toiletries
• Load, wash, dry and press linen in the hotel laundry

• Available on weekends, holidays and in peak season
• Friendly and polite if you meet guests in the corridor
• Physically able to push trolleys and turn mattresses
• Quick and thorough, with a target of about 14 to 16 rooms a shift
• Well groomed

• Experience with industrial laundry machines
• A hospitality short course or NQF Level 2 accommodation services certificate

• Share of the service charge or guest tips
• Staff accommodation at remote lodges
• Uniform supplied and laundered

• If you worked in a star-graded hotel, say which grading. It tells them the standard you already know.
• Mention seasonal availability for December and Easter. Coastal and lodge properties hire heavily before those peaks.
