Job Description

Good service at a beachfront cocktail bar in Mthatha starts with you: friendly, quick and on top of every order. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

This post is Mthatha-based, with most of your time spent at a beachfront cocktail bar. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

The work, day to day

Take orders on the POS tablet and read them back to avoid kitchen mistakes.
Pull espresso shots and steam milk for flat whites and cappuccinos.
Refuse service to anyone under 18 or visibly drunk, as the Liquor Act requires.
Greet guests, seat them and hand over menus within a minute of arrival.
Clear, wipe and reset tables fast during the Friday and Sunday rush.

What you need

Neat grooming and a friendly manner under pressure
You speak clear English and can chat easily with guests
Own transport or a safe way home after late shifts
Happy to work nights, weekends and public holidays
Grade 10 or higher; matric is a plus

Nice if you have

A second language such as isiZulu, isiXhosa or Afrikaans
Responsible Service of Alcohol training
A barista course certificate or latte-art skills
