HR Intern (Graduate Programme)

Help an university staffing office in Richards Bay look after its people, one form and one query at a time. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

Home base is an university staffing office on the Richards Bay side of KwaZulu-Natal. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Help organise wellness days, long-service awards and staff events.
• Archive old records and follow the retention periods for HR files.
• Capture leave, sick notes and family responsibility leave on the HR system.
• Set up new staff files and check that all onboarding forms are signed.
• Prepare employment contracts, offer letters and confirmation letters.
• Answer staff questions on policies, leave balances and benefits.
• Take minutes at hearings and HR meetings.

• Friendly and approachable with staff at every level
• Matric plus an HR certificate, diploma or degree (or currently studying)
• Basic understanding of the BCEA leave rules
• Discreet with personal and medical information
• Good MS Office skills, especially Word and Excel
• Willing to learn and follow HR procedures closely

• Any HR admin or internship experience
• Knowledge of SETA processes and the Skills Development Act

• A clear route to HR officer after 12 to 24 months
• Monthly internship stipend for graduate roles
• Study support toward an HR qualification
