HR Manager (Small to Medium Business)

You'll handle the full HR cycle for a retail chain region in Fourways, from hiring to hearings. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

This post is Fourways-based, with most of your time spent at a retail chain region. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Chair or initiate disciplinary hearings and write up the outcome.
• Update HR policies when labour law changes.
• Coordinate training and submit SETA grant claims on time.
• Track leave, absenteeism and sick notes and act on patterns.
• Run exit interviews and report turnover each quarter.
• Advise line managers on the Labour Relations Act and the BCEA.
• Run onboarding, contracts and probation reviews for new staff.

• CCMA experience, at least at conciliation
• A degree or diploma in HR management, labour relations or industrial psychology
• Solid working knowledge of the LRA, BCEA and EEA
• At least 3 years as an HR officer or generalist
• Good report writing and Excel

• SABPP registration
• Skills development facilitator (SDF) training
• HR system experience such as Sage 300 People or PaySpace

• Company car or travel allowance for site visits

• Prepare for a case-study question on dismissing an employee fairly, and walk through procedure and substance.
• Quantify your IR work: how many hearings, CCMA cases and outcomes; that is what HR managers check first.
