Hygiene Cleaner (Food Factory Night Crew)

Tough, messy cleaning at a mining workshop in Johannesburg CBD, paid better than ordinary cleaning. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

You'll be based at a mining workshop in Johannesburg CBD. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Lock out machines before cleaning, as the safety file requires
• Store chemicals in the locked chemical store with safety data sheets
• Foam, scrub and rinse walls, floors and conveyors with approved chemicals
• Put out and check pest bait stations on the site map
• Run a high-pressure washer on grease, oil and slurry build-up
• Strip down and wash production equipment after the last run
• Shampoo carpets and upholstery with an extraction machine

• Physically strong for wet, heavy work
• Able to pass a medical fitness check for plant work
• Respect for chemical safety and PPE
• Reliable, as crews are small and each person counts
• Grade 10 or better; you must read chemical labels and safety data sheets

• Paid training on machines and chemicals
• Higher hourly rate than standard cleaning
• Night-shift and standby allowances
• Full PPE: waterproof suits, boots, goggles and respirators

• Put the machines and chemicals you have used at the top of your CV. Industrial cleaning companies hire on skills, not just willingness.
• Say you are available for night and shutdown work. That is when most factory hygiene cleaning happens.
