Industrial Relations Practitioner

You'll handle the full HR cycle for a manufacturing plant in Alberton, from hiring to hearings. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

The work is in Alberton, Gauteng, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Represent the company at CCMA conciliations and arbitrations.
• Run exit interviews and report turnover each quarter.
• Chair or initiate disciplinary hearings and write up the outcome.
• Run onboarding, contracts and probation reviews for new staff.
• Coordinate training and submit SETA grant claims on time.
• Advise line managers on the Labour Relations Act and the BCEA.

• Confident facilitating hard conversations with managers and unions
• Solid working knowledge of the LRA, BCEA and EEA
• Valid driver's licence for multi-site roles
• Good report writing and Excel
• At least 3 years as an HR officer or generalist
• A degree or diploma in HR management, labour relations or industrial psychology

• SABPP registration
• Skills development facilitator (SDF) training
• HR system experience such as Sage 300 People or PaySpace

• CPD and SABPP fees paid
• Company car or travel allowance for site visits
• Medical aid and provident fund contributions
• Annual performance bonus

• Prepare for a case-study question on dismissing an employee fairly, and walk through procedure and substance.
• Quantify your IR work: how many hearings, CCMA cases and outcomes; that is what HR managers check first.
