Industrial Relations Practitioner

You'll handle the full HR cycle for an agricultural pack house in Potchefstroom, from hiring to hearings. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

You'll report in Potchefstroom. Relocation is not covered for this one.

• Run exit interviews and report turnover each quarter.
• Represent the company at CCMA conciliations and arbitrations.
• Coordinate training and submit SETA grant claims on time.
• Update HR policies when labour law changes.
• Chair or initiate disciplinary hearings and write up the outcome.
• Run onboarding, contracts and probation reviews for new staff.

• Confident facilitating hard conversations with managers and unions
• Good report writing and Excel
• At least 3 years as an HR officer or generalist
• A degree or diploma in HR management, labour relations or industrial psychology
• CCMA experience, at least at conciliation

• Experience on a unionised site or in a bargaining council sector
• HR system experience such as Sage 300 People or PaySpace
• SABPP registration

• Quantify your IR work: how many hearings, CCMA cases and outcomes; that is what HR managers check first.
• Prepare for a case-study question on dismissing an employee fairly, and walk through procedure and substance.
