You'll keep a private hospital in Cape Town CBD safe for patients by cleaning the way infection control demands. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

You'll be based at a private hospital in Cape Town CBD. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Handle and bag medical waste in the right coloured bins
• Wear gowns, masks and gloves as each room requires
• Move patients' belongings and equipment when rooms change
• Clean theatres between operations to the hospital's turnaround times
• Do terminal cleans of isolation rooms after a patient is discharged

• Matric or Grade 11
• Respectful and discreet around patients
• Not squeamish about blood, vomit or medical waste
• Up to date with vaccinations the hospital requires, such as hepatitis B
• Willing to follow strict infection control steps every time
• Calm under pressure in busy wards

• Knowledge of healthcare waste handling rules
• Previous hospital or clinic cleaning experience
• An infection prevention and control short course

• Shift allowances for nights and Sundays
• Medical aid option through the employer
• On-the-job infection control training
