Intermediate Phase Teacher (Grade 5)

A low-fee private school in Khayelitsha needs a teacher who can hold a class and lift the marks. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

You'll be based at a low-fee private school in Khayelitsha. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Use data projectors, smartboards or tablets where the school has them
• Capture marks on SA-SAMS or the school's reporting platform before deadlines
• Attend staff meetings, subject meetings and district workshops
• Give extra lessons to learners who are falling behind
• Handle classroom discipline with the school's code of conduct
• Plan weekly lessons against the CAPS annual teaching plan

• Full SACE registration (provisional registration only for student or newly qualified teachers)
• At least 1 year of classroom teaching, including teaching practice
• You can manage a class of 35 or more without losing control
• A B.Ed, or a degree plus PGCE, in the phase and subject you'll teach

• Experience with remedial or inclusive education
• Coaching experience in a major school sport
• Experience marking for the NSC or IEB
