Job Description

You'll be the person who fixes it when laptops, printers and logins break at a group of private schools in Pietermaritzburg. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

This post is in Pietermaritzburg (KwaZulu-Natal). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

What your day looks like

Connect users remotely with a remote support tool to fix issues
Write short how-to guides for common user problems
Replace faulty hardware and log warranty claims with suppliers
Keep the asset register up to date when equipment moves
Image, set up and hand over new laptops and desktops
Log, prioritise and update tickets on the service desk system
Visit branches or sites to fix issues that need hands on the machine

Must-haves

Basic networking: IP addresses, DNS, DHCP and Wi-Fi
Able to log clear, complete ticket notes
Matric plus an IT qualification, such as CompTIA A+ or an IT diploma
Patient and friendly with non-technical users
At least 1 year of help desk or desktop support (not needed for intern posts)
Working knowledge of Windows 10 and 11 and Microsoft 365

Nice if you have

CompTIA Network+ or Microsoft MD-102 certification
ITIL Foundation
