Job Description

Patch, monitor, back up and harden systems at a data centre in Cape Town CBD. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

You'll be based at a data centre in Cape Town CBD. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

The work, day to day

Plan hardware refreshes and licence renewals with a budget
Work with ISPs on link faults and fibre installs
Document network diagrams and change records
Monitor servers, links and firewalls and act on alerts
Manage users, groups and conditional access in Entra ID
Configure switches, VLANs, VPNs and firewall rules
Handle access requests and keep records that support POPIA compliance

You'll need

Solid TCP/IP, routing, switching and firewall knowledge
Scripting in PowerShell, Bash or Python
Clear change management and documentation habits
Strong Windows Server, Active Directory and Microsoft 365 skills, or Linux for Linux posts
