Job Description

An university IT department in Pinetown needs infrastructure that just works, and someone to make it so. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

Location: Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first.

What you'll actually do

Plan hardware refreshes and licence renewals with a budget
Build and maintain virtual machines on Hyper-V, VMware or Azure
Monitor servers, links and firewalls and act on alerts
Document network diagrams and change records
Handle access requests and keep records that support POPIA compliance

You'll need

Willing to do standby and after-hours maintenance
Scripting in PowerShell, Bash or Python
Strong Windows Server, Active Directory and Microsoft 365 skills, or Linux for Linux posts
Solid TCP/IP, routing, switching and firewall knowledge

Extra points for

CCNA, Fortinet NSE or MikroTik certification
Infrastructure-as-code with Terraform or Ansible
Azure Administrator (AZ-104) or AWS Solutions Architect Associate
