Job Description

Here your code runs in production, not in a drawer: a software development house in Cape Town CBD. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

This post is Cape Town CBD-based, with most of your time spent at a software development house. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

What your day looks like

Write, test and refactor code in your team's main language
Review teammates' pull requests with useful comments
Handle personal data safely, with POPIA rules in mind
Pick up tickets from the sprint board and estimate the work
Join daily stand-ups and sprint planning
Design database tables and write efficient SQL queries

What you need

Experience writing automated tests
Stable internet and a quiet workspace for remote days
Solid Git habits: branches, pull requests and meaningful commit messages
A computer science or IT qualification, or a portfolio that proves you can build
You can explain technical choices to non-technical people
Commercial experience in at least one of PHP, C#, Java, Python or JavaScript

Extra points for

Public GitHub portfolio or published app
Experience in regulated sectors such as banking or medical schemes
Cloud certification on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
