Java Developer (Banking Systems)

Here your code runs in production, not in a drawer: a fintech start-up in Mossel Bay. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

You'll be based at a fintech start-up in Mossel Bay. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Join daily stand-ups and sprint planning
• Investigate production bugs using logs and monitoring dashboards
• Build and consume REST or GraphQL APIs
• Deploy through a CI/CD pipeline on Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or GitLab
• Pick up tickets from the sprint board and estimate the work
• Write unit and integration tests before you merge

• Solid Git habits: branches, pull requests and meaningful commit messages
• Commercial experience in at least one of PHP, C#, Java, Python or JavaScript
• A computer science or IT qualification, or a portfolio that proves you can build
• Good SQL and understanding of relational databases
• You can explain technical choices to non-technical people
• Experience writing automated tests

• Experience in regulated sectors such as banking or medical schemes
• Docker and Kubernetes experience
• Knowledge of secure coding and the OWASP Top 10
