Job Description

A fintech start-up in Worcester needs a developer who can take a ticket from idea to production. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

Home base is a fintech start-up on the Worcester side of Western Cape.

The work, day to day

Deploy through a CI/CD pipeline on Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or GitLab
Document how your features work for support and new developers
Pick up tickets from the sprint board and estimate the work
Pair with junior developers to unblock them
Handle personal data safely, with POPIA rules in mind
Review teammates' pull requests with useful comments
Investigate production bugs using logs and monitoring dashboards

What you need

Good SQL and understanding of relational databases
Experience writing automated tests
Solid Git habits: branches, pull requests and meaningful commit messages
A computer science or IT qualification, or a portfolio that proves you can build
Commercial experience in at least one of PHP, C#, Java, Python or JavaScript
Stable internet and a quiet workspace for remote days

Extra points for

Docker and Kubernetes experience
Cloud certification on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
Public GitHub portfolio or published app
