Junior Bookkeeper (Xero)

Every invoice, payment and bank line at this small accounting practice in Mogwase goes through your hands. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

Home base is a small accounting practice on the Mogwase side of North West. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Load supplier payments on internet banking for authorisation
• Reconcile creditors statements and sort out differences with suppliers
• Reconcile bank accounts daily and clear unallocated items
• Capture supplier invoices and customer receipts on Sage or Xero
• Prepare VAT201 workings for the accountant to submit on SARS eFiling

• Accurate with figures and careful with supplier bank details
• Matric with Accounting
• Bookkeeping certificate or diploma (ICB, FASSET learnership or similar)
• At least 2 years of hands-on bookkeeping or clerk work
• Good with Excel: VLOOKUP, pivot tables and simple formulas

• Knowledge of Sage Evolution or QuickBooks
• Registered with SAIPA or the ICB as a bookkeeper

• Office hours with no weekend work
• Thirteenth cheque at many small firms
• Hybrid work after probation at some practices

• Name the accounting packages you use daily in your CV headline, such as "Sage Pastel Partner, Xero, Excel".
• Recruiters often give a short Excel or recon test, so practise a bank recon before the interview.
