Junior Quantity Surveyor (Private Practice) – Permanent

You'll measure, price and manage the money on building projects for the main building contractor in Tzaneen. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

You'll be based at a main building contractor in Tzaneen. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Track budget against actual cost and flag overruns early
• Update cash flow forecasts for the project manager
• Use measuring software to do take-offs from PDF and CAD drawings
• Measure work on site for monthly interim payment certificates
• Take off quantities from drawings to build a bill of quantities
• Prepare the final account at the end of the project
• Get quotes from subcontractors and compare them line by line

• Strong Excel skills, including formulas and pivot tables
• You know the Standard System of Measuring Building Work
• Accurate with numbers and able to back up every figure you certify
• BSc, BTech or Diploma in Quantity Surveying
• Understanding of JBCC Principal Building Agreement clauses
• Code 08 licence for site visits

• Estimating software experience on top of Excel
• Experience with civil bills using the SANS 1200 standard
• SACQSP registration as a Professional or Candidate QS

• Study support for an honours degree
• Paid SACQSP registration fees and CPD courses
• Travel allowance for site visits
